Is the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue sexist or are the people who complain just jealous? This is an ongoing controversial subject and something I found to be pretty interesting.
Some people view this edition as placing women in skimpy swimsuits for the simple use of selling magazines. If you are a pessimistic person who is always looking for something to be mad about, then that might be the view to go with. I never see the swimsuit models complaining about guys drooling over their pictures. Really, who could actually place blame on them for being drop-dead gorgeous.
I believe it to be a tasteful way to show off their beautiful bodies, which I am sure they work hard for. Posing in a swimsuit is extremely tasteful, compared to posing fully nude in Playboy with their legs open for all to see. Do you see these girls being chained down and forced to do this?
Some argue that emphasis should be put on intelligence and not your sex appeal. Those people obviously have not put an emphasis on their own life, especially if they are worried about what these young women do with theirs. Everyone is able to choose what they want to do with their life and I am sure if they looked half as good as one of those models they would not be complaining. Just as some women will take advantage of their college degrees, these swimsuit models are taking advantage of their beauty. If I had a body like one of those models, I would definitely be in a magazine and show it off.
Unfortunately I was not blessed, but I am not going to be angry about it and say that they give women a bad name. I simply give them the credit they deserve. Are these opposing women that jealous of the models beauty?
Pathetic people let pictures in magazines ruin their day. It should not matter what you look like, but for those who are that beautiful and make modeling their career, good for them.
