The men's track team had a huge win this past weekend at the Chicagoland Championships, held here at Lewis University. The men scored 197 points against the other 18 teams.

Leading the way for the Flyers was Billy Stadele, who won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.43 seconds, which improved his provisional qualifying time. Stadele also went on to win the long jump with a personal record of 22-9. After winning two events, he finished second in the pole vault with a height of 15-11. Andy Tremble ran the 3000 meters in 8:40.47 and came out on top. Also successful that day, J'ean Middleton captured the win in the 200-meter hurdles in 25.72 seconds. Team efforts also added to the Flyer's win.

The 4x200 meter-relay, including Trabion Jenkins, Mel Denham, Kellen Monroe, and Rozovics, had a winning time of 1:29.25. The distance medley relay contributed a first place win with a time of 10:09.77. The relay includes Juan Carillo, Middleton, Mike Eck, and Tremble.

Amongst the first place finishers, there were others who contributed points to the Flyer's winning score. Byron Toliver finished second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.50 seconds. Toliver also added to score by finishing third in the long jump with 22-3. Sinan Khamo finished second in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:38.22. Coming in right after Khamo was Chris Foley, finishing third in 15:38.50.

Also finishing third was Dave Dobersztyn in the 55-meter dash in 6.51 seconds, Denham in the 200-meter with 22.56 seconds, Richards Sims in the 400-meter in 50.73 seconds, Josh Grys in the 200-meter hurdles in 26.56, Eck in the 800-meter with a time of 1:55.01, and Jake Clary in high jump with 6-1. The 4x400 finished up the meet in third with a time of 3:22.10, which included Rozovics, Middleton, John Archer, and Eric McCants.

At the Lewis Invitational on Feb. 12, the Flyers were successful in adding two new names to the provisional qualifying list. Tremble put his name on the list for the 5000-meter with an impressive time of 14:54.27. "It was pretty exciting for me considering it was my first time on the list," said Tremble about his race.

Head Coach Bob Schultz added, "I was excited for Andy, but it was unfortunate that all the other great 5000-meter runners in the country ran fast that same day." Also, freshman Richard Sims, had a provisional qualifying time of 22.40 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Stadele never ceasing to amaze, had a provisional qualifying time in the 55-hurdles with a time of 7.56 seconds, capturing first place. He also had an automatic qualifying height of 16-11 in the pole vault, finishing second.
